Monarch Adult Sighted

Date: 09/07/2019

Number: 2000

Probably several thousand monarchs in our 450 acres of prairie restorations. In a 1-acre area J D Arnston netted 69 monarchs in one hour. Mark Martin got the tag off, handed it to Ella, a seven year old, who held the tag on a toothpick, Mark then tagged the monarch, Ella sexed and released it. Ella's grandmother recorded. Highest number every caught in one hour by one person at Goose Pond Sanctuary. 68 were nectaring on stiff goldenrod and one was nectaring on Missouri goldenrod. The restored prairie where we tagged is about 250 yards west of our roost site.
