Monarch Egg (FIRST sighted)
Sightings report image

Date: 05/12/2024

Number: 2

2 eggs were sighted, 1 on an Asclepias syriaca plant at the top of the IL-111 ditch in front of our property and the other on an A. sullivantii plant (pivcture) in the bed closest to the highway.

Thoroughly checked all other nearby milkweed plants except some in the muddy bottom of the highway ditch, but found no more eggs. Also spot checked all other milkweed plantings, but saw no eggs.

Have not seen any monarch butterflies yet.
