This is Crystine, Summer, Erik, and William in Mrs. Uebner's fifth
grade class from Mariposa Elementary School, Mariposa, California. Dr.
Bower measured the amount of nectar in the flower. Then he was able to
used. People wanted to know if they could cut down the trees (if they
cut down the trees there would be more space for the flowers to grow.)
They shouldn't cut down the trees because the butterflies sleep and mate
in the trees. Besides during the winter they do not depend on nectar as
much because they depend on stored reserves.
