    Challenge Question #1

    LAKEVIEW SCHOOL (lakeview@upanet.uleth.ca)

First of all we took a guess, between 7 and 15 degrees Farenheit. We
chose between these two temperatures because we know that both soil and
    snow retain heat.

Later, we called Ron Wilks at our research station, and he tld us that
when the air temperature was -2 F. (-17 C.), the temperature of the soil
5 inches down with 16 inches of snow on top was +20 F. (-5 C.).
