Imprinting is a very rapid learning process that takes place early in an
animal's life. This process causes the animals to act a certain way when
they are grown up. Peaple who raise cranes dress in all white because
adult cranes are all white. When the young cranes see the white images,
they are "imprinted" into their minds, therefore they learn to become
attracted to and to know their own kind.
