Manatees are endangered because of humans. Humans are the biggest threat to
manatees. Human's fishing nets trap manatees and then the manatee is unable
to reach the surface, drowning them. Some humans, even though the laws
protecting them, poach them. The poachers hunt them down for there blubber or
for food. Man disturbs the manatees habitat and the manatee is forced to
move. Flood gates and navigation locks have been known to crush the manatee.
This is accidental but it's still humans fault. Manatees accidentally swallow
garbage and it gets into their digestive system. This can make them sick or
even kill them. There are few natural causes for manatees death. If the
waters get to cold it make the manatees die. Also diseases could be from
nature or from humans. But when pesticides get into manatees waters, they die
or get a serious disease. Diseases caused by nature are only a small
percentage of manatees deaths. Man is the reason manatees are endangered.
