To decide which senses robins use when hunting for food using the following
materials, dead earth worm, living earthworm, rotten eggs, decaying meat,
Rancid butter, Mercaptoacetic acid, a small drill and a low frequency tape
recorder I would put the dead worm next to the living worm to see if they
used sight or smell, then I would use the acid just to see if they went for
smell, and next I would use the drill to see if they went for the loud noise,
and then the tape recorder for a low frequency noise. I think Frank Heppner
used these materials because there is a strong difference between smell of
these materials, how they look, and the sound they make.
