    In our science class at St. Francis Episcopal Day School, we decided on
    an answer. My group believes that the reason that the owls mate and lay
    eggs in February is because they will hatch in time for spring. Also
    because, they will be fully grown by winter of 2000-2001, and able to
    fend for themselves.
