    I think hummers might build their nests out of
    these different materials because of availability.
    The materials are light -weight so they are easily
    transported. Lichens may be strong and stiff to form
    a support for the nest. Spider silk could be used as
    an adhesive and the thistle and dandelion seeds
     would be soft for the lil' babies' heads.
