The Sargasso Sea is between the West Indies and the Azores. It is a
relatively still sea at the center of great swirls from ocean currents.
These currents come from the Equator, Gulf of Mexico, and seaweed bays
around the area. It is a rich field for marine biologists because of its
large amount of gulfweed on its surface. Since the Sargasso Sea's currents
are so hot, they call it a dessert in the middle of the ocean. Being so
warm makes it an unusual place in the ocean.
