    Mrs. Nunnally's second grade class at Peter Woodbury School in Bedford, NH
    discussed the question and decided the following :

    the loon's beak stays warm because it doesn't have blood in it

    the loon's feet and legs don't get too cold because they don't have a lot
    of blood in them

    the loon's eye doesn't get cold because it has an eyelid to protect it and
    it also has a second clear eyelid to keep it warmer
