    This is Samantha's answer:

When there is daylight savings time going an hour back the sun will come
up an hour earlier than before. At night the sun will go down an hour
    earlier than before.

When there is day light savings time going an hour forward the sun will
come up an hour later than before. At night the sun will go down an hour
    later than before.

That's how the photoperiod stays the same.
