To get the average number of whales seen per day, we added the numbers for each of the days and got 108 total whales. Next, we divided 108 by the number of days(7) and arrived at 15.43 whales. This was the average seen. We know you can't have .43 of a whale, and as the data shows, there were more than 15.43 whales seen on some days and less on others.
