Van Nguyen from Challenger Middle School Says: "if a gray whale weighed 40 tons, the gray whale would burn 760,000 kilocalories per day. If some of you are wondering how I got the answer, here it is; first I had to find out how much one ton equals to one kilogram. Since one ton equals to 1,000 kilograms, I multiplied 40 tons and 1,000 kilograms to find out how much kilograms the gray whale weighed, then I got 40,000 kilograms. Now since 19 kilocalories equals to one kilogram, I also multiplied 40,000 kilograms(weight of gray whale) and 19 kilocalories to find out how much kilocalories the gray whale burned per day, and I got 760,000 kilocalories."
