Mrs. McCabe's 5th grade class Midland, TX Trinity School
We knew from our geography studies that A.M. (ante-meridian) stands for occurring before noon; P.M. stands for (post-meridian), occurring after noon. Our Latin teacher also told us that these are Latin words. Ante in Latin means before & post means after. Meridian is Latin too; mer is mid & diem is day.
Thanks!
