Dear Journey North,
Mrs. Swentzel and her third grade class talked about whether monarch
butterflies have a heart or not. The class believes that monarchs do have
hearts. The class thinks it is necessary for them to have hearts to help
pump their blood to all parts of the body. They also feel the heart helps
move their food around to all parts of the body to give it energy so they
can fly. They need a heart to make their muscles move and to help them
breathe.
