    Dear Journey North,

Mrs. Swentzel's third grade class from (Byram) Stanhope, NJ discussed the
challenge question #9. We decided that this is a short time, especially
for the monarchs who need to get out of their wintering grounds quickly. We
think they will also need to leave to get food and water more quickly since
the area is so dry. The monarchs are going to leave their winter homes and
begin flying back to cover North America. They will begin laying their
eggs for the next generation to go on and repopulate North America. They
have a long way to go to bring them back to areas like ours. We look
forward to seeing them, but we know it will be awhile, since we are covered
    in snow.
