The biggest risk to survival of the eastern cranes is being eaten. Whooping crane #214 died because it was a victim to a bobcat. Whooping cranes have also been attacked by eagles, foxes, and other predators on their migration trips. The weather is also a hazard to the cranes while they are flying.
