Hi,
I'm Dwight Beebe. I'm the K-6 Science teacher at Rowe Elementary School,
a small, rural school in the town of Rowe. We're located in Franklin
County in Northwestern Massachusetts. The sixth graders, all six of them,
have worked hard to figure out the locations of the Mystery Classes. Here
are our answers to the question:
#1 Lomé, Togo, Lat. 6º10'N, Long. 1º21'E
#2 Geelong, Victoria, Australia, Lat. 38º7'S, Long. 144º22'E
#3 Galway, Ireland, Lat. 53º16'N, Long. 9º3'W
#4 Dunnville, Ontario, Canada, Lat. 42º51'N, Long. 79º37'W
#5 Russell, North Island, New Zealand, Lat. 35º16'S, Long. 174º7'E
#6 Bishkek, Zyrgyzstan, Lat. 42º32'N, Long. 74º28'E
#7 McMurdo Station, Antarctica, Lat. 77º51'S, Long. 166º45'E
#8 Savoonga, St. Lawrence Island, Alaska, Lat. 63º42'N, Lat. 170º29'W
#9 Suva, Viti Levu, Fiji, Lat. 18º8'S, Long. 178º25'E
#10 Vopnafjordur, Iceland, Lat. 65º45'N, Long. 14º49'W
We've really enjoyed working on this challenge. As a science teacher, I
really appreciate the wealth of engaging projects that Journey North puts
together and makes available. Personally, I believe that this kind of
project (MC) is a true use of the Internet as a teaching resource. Keep
up the great work! http://www.rowe.mtrsd.k12.ma.us/site/class_page/Beebe/
