We think that the variables are the availability of food such as berries. If it is too cold the ground would be frozen for long periods and so the robins could not get worms. Long spells of snow would not suit them.
The American Robin Group Ardaghy National School ages 9-12
We have robins in Ireland and they stay all year as our weather is never too cold although we get some snow. Our robin is smaller than yours and the colour is different.
