Why is this Whooping crane chick napping by the puppet?
This is newborn chick #1001! The chick was so tired from the hard work of hatching on May 1 that it fell asleep next to the crane puppet that biologists use to teach the babies to eat and drink. "Chick Mom" Barb Clauss said #1001 is very cute, and quite the little talker. "I guess there is alot to say once you get out of that egg you've been in for so long. I wonder if the chick has just been thinking all this time about what it wanted to say once it got out."
