April 3, 2016 Migration Progress Map
The five Class of 2015 juveniles who left Florida on March 30 covered just over 200 miles on the first day, roosting that night in Elmore County, Alabama. This site is within 30 miles of the Lowndes County, AL location where they stopped on their fall aircraft-led migration south. They stayed there the next day due to rain, but took off again April 2. Despite very windy conditions for most of the weekend the five juveniles made pretty decent progress: Over the past two days they’ve covered close to 400 miles!
