This week, Varvara has been moving back and forth over an area extending from Chayvo to Okha, which is typically considered a feeding area for Western gray whales.

The research was contracted through the International Whaling Commission (IWC) and the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN) with funding from Exxon Neftegas Ltd. and Sakhalin Energy Investment Company Ltd.
