Highlights: Ruby-throat Migration in Full Swing
Over 150 sightings of Ruby-throats were reported this week, a sign that the migration is in full swing. Monday a Ruby-throated humingbird zipped up the Atlantic Coast to Branford, Connecticut (41°N), a full week ahead of last year's sightings. With favorable southwest winds we're sure to see similar reports as the week progresses.

"A male Ruby-throat arrived at 2pm today at my hummingbird feeder site. Had a five-minute feeding bout." Bradford, Connecticut 04/06/15

Rufous Arriving in North and Headed East
The first signs of the Rufous' eastward migration began with a sighting this week in Spokane, Washington. Along the northern Alaskan Panhandle multiple sightings have been reported.

"Normal month for hummers to arrive. I put up the feeder and he arrived within a couple hours. Herring and hummingbirds show up at the same time each year." Haines, Alaska 04/04/15

Flower-powered Migrants
Hummingbirds are not the only animals who are migrating into North America right now, eating nectar as they travel.

"I had a very special first this year. It is the first year that I saw my first hummingbird and my first Monarch butterfly on the same day."  Justin, Texas 04/04/15
