    Dear Monarch Friends,

What a wonderful surprise to have 22 beautiful monarchs arrive at our
    school in
Burlington, Vermont this week! They originated from all corners of the US,
    plus one
from Ontario, Canada. It was fun to locate each city on a map. Today, our
fourth graders wrote letters back to the butterflies' creators to let them
    know that they had
safely "migrated" from Mexico and were welcomed in the Green Mountain State.

Here are the schools where the butterflies came from:

    Ludlow Grade School, Ludlow, IL
Plum Creek Elementary School, Lockhart, TX
Sandhurst Public School, Bath, Ontario, Canada
White City Elementary School, White City, OR
Scenic Heights Elementary School, Minnetonka, MN
    McKnight Elementary School, Pittsburgh, PA
Webb School of Knoxville, Knoxville, TN
    Troy Middle School, Plainfield, IL
    Chesterfield Elementary School, Chesterfield, MI
    Maryville Middle School, Maryville, TN
    Glenwood School, Chapel Hill, NC
    Firelands Elementary School, Oberlin, OH
Lawton Chiles Elementary School, Tampa, FL
    Chilton Elementary School, Chilton, WI
    Lincoln School, Petaluma, CA

We hope all of you monarch lovers out there have had as much fun as we have
    receiving your butterflies. Thank you!

    Sincerely,

Lee Ann Slocum, Grade 4 Teacher
    C. P. Smith Elementary School
    Burlington, VT
