Challenge Question #7
Eagles carry prey with their talons instead of their beaks for several reasons. They cannot carry prey with their beaks because it puts too much weight in the front and it impedes their vision. Eagles are in more danger of being injured if they carry their prey in their beak. Talons are better designed to carry prey than an eagles beak because they can encircle the prey completely. When eagles are going after their prey, they cannot catch the animal with their beak or they will crash into the ground or river. Also, it is very hard for an eagle to transfer its prey from beak to talons.
