Here are Megan and Victor's answers to Challenge question #11. Because
a male eagle can weigh between 8 and 9 pounds and because they can eat
between 5 and 10% of their body weight, their daily food intake would be
between .4 and .9 of a pound. A female, being larger, would eat between
.5 and 1.4 pounds per day. We also know of cases where eagles will
gorge themselves on a road-killed deer and then, when startled by a
passing car, will get hit by the car as they try to fly away. They have
eaten so much that they are not able to lift off as quickly or
    gracefully as usual.
