"Why do you think Bald Eagles feather-less legs?" What adaptive advantage do
naked legs have for Bald Eagles?"
We think that not having feathers on the legs would be an advantage because
eagles are often around water. If they had feathers on their legs, the
feathers would be wet when they caught their prey in the water. That would
make it hard to catch the fish as it would slow them up in the water and
also make it harder for them to fly quickly. If they are carrying prey that
could grab on to the feathers and pull, that would hurt the eagle.
