While Rufous Hummingbirds start returning in early February, we don't expect Ruby-throated migration sightings so early. Ruby-throats usually arrive around the third week of February, in states along the Gulf Coast: LA, MS, TX, GA and FL. Why?
Ruby-throated hummingbirds are further south when they begin their journey, and they have further to travel.
