Challenge Question #2

From: Allison Bailey <bailey_a@mail.firn.edu>
Date: Wed Feb 23 2005 - 16:07:38 EST

Here are a few of the responses from my third-graders to the question:
"What do you think your climate and seasons would be like if the Earth
were not tilted on its axis?"

Thomas said, "If the earth was not tilted on its axis we wouldn't have
long and short days. And we would not have seasons. Because the sun is
what makes the seasons, and the sun is what makes the days longer and
shorter. And that is probably what will happen if the sun is not tilted
on its axis."

John said, "If the Earth were not tilted on its axis, there would be
the same amount of sunlight. The seasons would be the same temperature."
