Challenge Question #13

From: Journey North <ehoward@journeynorth.org>

Dear Journey North,

We are a few students in Mr. Phillips's third grade at Kanawha
Elementary in Davisville, West Virginia. Here are our answers to the
challenge question.

Andy W. says that if he was 2,000 times heavier, he would weigh 146,000
pounds. That would be as much as a little more than 12 African bull
elephants if each weighed 12,000 pounds.

Alexis S. says that she would weigh 130,000 pounds. That would be as
much as 18 and a half hippos if each one weighed 7,000 pounds.

Alyssa L. says that she would weigh about 94,000 pounds. That would be
as much as one and one tenth of the weight of a John Deere 1050C Crawler
Dozer which weighs 41.5 tons.

Ray E. says that he would weigh about 144,000 pounds. That would be
about one and three fourths of a John Deere 370C excavator that weighs
37 metric tons, or 81,585 pounds.

Thank you for letting us answer,
