Typically,
all the birds from one year have the same color VHF transmitter.
But with 29 chicks in the Class of 2009 there were not enough
combinations within the white-over-red series. When we ran
out, we gave
#929 an all-white VHF transmitter. This all-white
VHF band is
the
first in
a new
series. This solid, wide white band makes #929 this year's "odd
duck," but
at least it's easy for the trackers to identify him from
the other nine Chass birds.
