What
is happening? Dr. Richard Urbanek (in costume) fires the net gun to help capture Whooping crane #101 in February. This male is the oldest bird in the new Eastern flock. His transmitter has not worked for a long time. After a pop from the net gun, and quick flurry of white cloth, white feathers, and flying nets, #101 was in the gentle arms of the aviculturalist. His transmitter was replaced and now he is trackable again! |
