What is happening to this wild Whooping crane?

This juvenile Whooping crane is one of the first two wild cranes to receive a radio transmitter for tracking since the 1980s. It had just been captured, examined and banded at Aransas NWF in Texas, where the flock spends winter. The crane scientist is about to release the crane.
