Back to today's update.

The Whooping crane family is poking and looking under the water for fish, blue crabs, or other food. Laura Erickson took the photo at Aransas Nwr in January. She sais: "Every time I saw an adult eat a blue crab, I noticed the other crane watches. I never saw the other try to take away pieces of the crab from the crane who caught it. The baby (juvenile) often goes to the parent who caught the crab and begs. The parent will give the young crane pieces of the crab, but will expect it to learn from watching and find its own crabs soon."
