2012's First Chick in Wisconsin!
Wild-hatched Whooping crane chick #W1-12 is the eastern flock's first chick of the 2012 season! The chick is seen here from an airplane, with parents #212 & #419, one day after it was discovered. They are also the parents of #W3-10, one of only three surviving fledged chicks in the eastern flock.

W1-12 may soon have company! Severa lmore pairs of Whooping cranes are currently incubating eggs in the core reintroduction area of Wisconsin.
