Imagine you are a Whooping crane. What would you look for when choosing a life partner? You likely make this choice only once, so you want it right. You don't have as many choices as species that are not endangered. You can’t use the Internet to look up other whoopers. So how do you decide which crane will be a fit partner to (1) help raise your chicks and (2) last a long lifetime?
