Class of 2015 is Home!
April 18, 2016 The aircraft-led Class of 2015 cranes has completed their first unassisted migration! Crane #2-16, migrating alone, and cranes #1, #6, #8, #10 and #11, migrating as a group, crossed into Wisconsin on the weekend. Once home, they've already begun the spring wanderings normal for juveniles. The four DAR cranes are in Genesee County, Michigan, looking healthy. We hope that these four will retrace their flight and get on the west side of Lake Michigan, back to the core reintroduction area in central Wisconsin with the rest of the flock. Watch the bio pages for updates as the Class of 2015's first summer of freedom unfolds. What will they do in their first spring and summer as wild, free Whooping cranes? What will they eat?
