Peregrine Falcon Migration Update: October 17, 1998

Hi again

What can I say? I was wrong and our female falcon is still headed south. After a three day stop in the Sabana Archipelago off northern Cuba, she has continued south.

On October 17 she was near the south coast of Cuba, 30 km west of Santiago de Cuba. She is a few kilometers inland at the east end of Sierra Maestra. The locations were determined at night so we can assume that she was roosting in the foothills of this Sierra.

This location is 535 km southeast of her location on October 14. Her direction since she left Wood Buffalo has been fairly consistently southeast.
