  • Tulip Garden Update: September 12, 2003
    Welcome to the International Tulip Study. Use your observation skills before planting your tulips. How will they change and grow this coming season? How will you? Use a time capsule to save your thoughts. Try a new data logger to record temperatures. Take the annual Microclimate Challenge. And, predict when the Original Gardens will emerge this year.
  • Tulip Garden Update: October 10, 2003
    Busy students have now planted tulip bulbs in 23 gardens from Alaska to Finland. Take a curious and interesting challenge to predict which 60°N latitude garden will bloom first. Watch a video then plan your tulip experiments. Find a corner to focus on the cycle of seasons in your neighborhood with a nature walk and your own collections.
  • Tulip Garden Update: November 7, 2003
    Snows are blanketing parts of the North with most gardeners planting in the nick of time. Tulips make the news in VT. Learn some strategies to formulate good questions for your experiments. Find a Garden Buddy to start a garden. Try forcing some bulbs in a convenient indoor experiment. Have you planted your bulbs yet?
  • FINAL Tulip Garden Update: December 5, 2003
    Most of the work is done now and students can take a breather while their bulbs are preparing for their flush of spring growth. Do snow and earth act as an overcoat for the bare bulbs? Find out with soil temperature testing. Celebrate the season - make new discoveries you can measure - starting with the Winter Solstice. And find a tip for easy mapping.
