Food and Feathers

From Indian Land, SC, Karen reports:

"For a couple months we've been getting huge numbers of Ruby throated hummingbirds at our feeders. I have 6 feeders up and have to refill them every day and a half. I'm still seeing young males that are just getting their first red feathers at their necks. Many adult birds seem to have gone through a very rough molt this year and look pitiful but still seem strong and healthy otherwise. The mosquitoes and gnats are horrible this year so there's plenty of soft bodied insects for them to eat as well."
