First Red Feathers
Signs of molting can be seen at this time of year. This young male Ruby-throated Hummingbird is just getting the first red feathers at his neck. His red gorget will finish filling out on the wintering grounds after migration.

"I still have many Hummingbirds at my feeders — a few juvenile males and females from what I can see."
