Warm It Up
Hummers start feeding as early as 45 minutes before sunrise, and they really need the energy of warm food to heat up after a cool night. As temps drop, here's what you might see and do:
"Everybody is fluffed out because it's cold this morning. Saw 10 at the feeders last night. Almost all have gone South."

"There's a frost warning tonight and a low of 34 forecast for tomorrow morning. We will likely bring feeders inside tonight and put them out early tomorrow filled with room-temperature sugar water."
Dianne in Moretown, VT (September 5, 2013)
