"This evening's rather strong showing of about 20 Ruby-throated mostly sub-adult males had a rare straggler: a mature male Ruby that kept watch over a single small feeder. He spent large amounts of energy just cruising out and around it every 30 seconds or so. The attached image is of him sitting on "his" stick in the Yellow Cestrum plant. This morning I counted only six hummers. The count ebbs and flows every day but is unusually high for this late in the migration."
