Northern Latecomers
Sightings of lone, late hummers in both Michigan and Minnesota astonished two observers this week. Why so late? Any Rubythroats seen now are probably summer's late hatchers taking their time. They still have a chance as long as people are keeping up feeders all along the way!
"It's 36 degrees outside! She must be a straggler, as my hummers all left by the first week in October. I hope she will head south soon."
