Staying or Going?
Hummingbird bander Meret Wilson is a Floridian who tells us, "We do go year round with hummer evidence most the time, but it's a different population in winter than ones that breed here." This observer might be a lucky person who enjoys hummers year round:

"This week has sent my adult male Ruby-throated on his way elsewhere and brought the arrival of a new bird to my yard. It is not unusual for me to see a Rufous coming through this time of year. I also had a female and immature male Rubythroat. We are having cooler weather, so I'm hoping more will stop by and perhaps stay with me this winter."
