Humming By....
Observers often report hearing hummers before seeing them. Hummingbirds are named for the audible low-pitched humming sound made in flight. This distinctive sound is made by their wings, and the sounds differ depending on how fast the bird beats its wings. Each species generates a different humming sound in flight.

"One came within inches of my nose, looked me in the eye and started chirping. It is amazing to feel the wind from their wings and hear their buzzing."
