Hummingbirds are stacking up and tanking up along the Gulf Coast states before their final push south. Texas sightings reports accounted for 806 hummers this week, and banders on the Gulf Coast of Louisiana are banding a "bumper crop" of southbound hummers after a late spring and a good breeding season.
"Feeder activity has increased fivefold in three weeks. We now have 4 feeders which required filling each morning. We have been observing as many as twenty or more Hummers constantly through out the entire day for the past three weeks." Thomas in Lake Kiowa, TX 09/22/14
