Hummingbird
Migration Update: April 27, 2006 "Data Only" Update This Week As you look at the Ruby-throated hummingbird map this week, be sure to compare the progress in the Midwest and the lack of progress in the Northeast where the hummingbirds are holding up in MA! In the Midwest, a hummingbird has already reached 47 N near Duluth, MN, and many have been sighted across the Midwest as far as 46 N. In contrast, the migration's leading edge on the East Coast has stalled out at 43N. Hummingbirds haven't advanced northward much since April 15. Is this delay due to cooler temperatures? Could it be the prevailing north winds of late? What do you think? Watch for a full report next week. Hummingbird Maps and Data
