Hummingbird
Rescue
An puzzling but amazing thing happened at the hummingbird feeder
one morning. A Journey North hummer observer wrote to share her
experience. Here's her story:
"I
opened my blinds one morning last year and found a hummer laying
sideways on my feeder like it was dead. I carefully picked it
up and held it. I thought it was dead, but my husband said it
was breathing real shallow. We offered it a little sugar water
by dipping its beak in the water, and I cupped it with both hands
trying warm it. After a while it started to drink on its own.
"I took it outside when it could finally stand, and set it
on a bush limb in the sun. I kept offering it sugar water and
it kept on drinking. After about an hour it flew away.
"
Have you ever heard of this before and did I do the right thing?"
